"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.""
— John 11:25 (ESV)
When Lazarus died, his sisters Martha and Mary were devastated. Four days had passed. The tomb was sealed. Hope, it seemed, had been buried along with their brother. And then Jesus arrived.
Martha ran to meet Him with a mixture of grief and faith: "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." It is the cry of every grieving heart — Lord, where were You? And Jesus, instead of offering explanations, offered Himself: "I am the resurrection and the life."
Notice He didn't say "I will give you resurrection" or "I will show you the way to life." He said I AM. The resurrection is not merely an event in history — it is a Person. Jesus Christ conquered death not just at the tomb of Lazarus, not just at His own tomb, but over every form of death: spiritual death, relational death, the death of hope.
This same resurrection power lives in every believer through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11). The power that raised Christ from the dead — the same power — is at work in you today. Whatever feels dead in your life: your faith, your marriage, your dreams, your joy — bring it to the One who is the Resurrection.
He specialises in making dead things live again.
Today's Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the Resurrection and the Life. I bring before You every dead area of my life and ask You to breathe Your life into it. Let Your resurrection power work in and through me today. Amen.
