"Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.""
— John 3:3 (ESV)
Nicodemus was a Pharisee — a religious leader of Israel, educated, devout, respected. And he came to Jesus at night with a question heavy with spiritual searching. Jesus cut straight to the heart of what Nicodemus needed: not more religion, but new birth.
"Born again" — the Greek word is 'anothen', which means both "again" and "from above." Jesus was pointing to something beyond human effort, human reform, or religious ritual. He was speaking of a divine transformation: a new heart, a new spirit, a new life that only God can give.
This is the core of the Gospel. Jesus did not come to make bad people better. He came to make dead people alive. The new birth is not self-improvement — it is resurrection. It is the Holy Spirit of God entering your life and making you a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Have you been born again? This is not a question about church attendance or moral behaviour. It is the most personal, most urgent question anyone can face. If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus Christ — never acknowledged your sin and received His forgiveness — today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
To be born again is the greatest miracle — and it is available to you right now.
Today's Prayer
Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to You. I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of Your grace. I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the dead. Come into my heart, give me new life, and make me Yours forever. Amen.
